Most Virginia traffic tickets do not state a total, and the reason is in the statute: the majority of Title 46.2 offences name no fine of their own, so Va. Code § 46.2-113 supplies one — a traffic infraction is punishable by a fine of not more than the Class 4 misdemeanor maximum in Va. Code § 18.2-11, which is $250. Court costs are separate and fixed by Va. Code § 16.1-69.48:1 at $51 for an infraction and $61 for a misdemeanor.
